"I mean, all they wanted to do was live a little longer. We're no different. Sequence DNA. Cure diseases. One fatal mistake, and they doom their entire race. I guess no matter what you do, at the end of the day…life is too short." - Daniel Jackson

History
Early History
- The Asgard evolved in the Ida galaxy on the planet Othala. Their collected culture and knowledge would span over 100,000 years.
- 28,000 BC they started to explore outside of their galaxy.
- They started to clone their bodies and transfer their minds into these bodies, as a means to extend their life.
- They were hit by a plague called Barion's Syndrome which wiped out 60% of their population and effectively 75% started to suffer from cellular degeneration the remaining 10% didn't have enough genetic diversity to save them.
30,000 Years Ago
- An Asgard ship was sent from Othala with its crew in suspended animation. The ship had to malfunction or break down as it drifted across galaxies, ultimately ending up in the Milky Way Galaxy. It is unknown if this was its destination or it was a random coincidence.
10,000 Years Ago
- The Asgard made peaceful contact with the Ancients, the Furlings, and the Nox.
- They came into conflict with the Goa'uld as they liberated several groups of humans from Goa'uld control, declaring themselves their protectors until they have evolved to a sufficient level.
- The Vanar, a group of Asgard that didn't share their ethical beliefs about experimenting on humans to solve their genetic problems, left the Ida galaxy and traveled to the Pegasus Galaxy where they continued their experiments. The ancients learned they could not win the war with the Wraith they left for the Milky Way, and the Wraith attacked the Vanar leaving them stranded in the Pegasus Galaxy. In order to survive they lived on a toxic planet that the wraith couldn't come to, eventually they had to leave the planet as it became to toxic even for them after building the exoskeleton Armor.
Past to the Current Era
- The Goa'uld became a large threat to the milky way even though the Asgard tried to control them. The Goa'uld started to take humans as hosts which had angered the Asgard as they saw that humanity had great potential. The Asgard's vastly superior technology was more than a match for the Goa'uld, who were forced to sign a treaty with the Asgard in order to keep from being destroyed.
